6What is the difference between prescription, non-prescription and other pharmacy items?
Many medications may be supplied by a pharmacist only after a prescription ("script") has been supplied by a medical practitioner or dentist. In this case you will need to mail your script to Online Pharmacy at the address indicated on the ordering page. Non prescription and other pharmacy items are grouped into "medicine" - meaning medication not requiring a script, and "other" - meaning assorted remaining pharmacy items. You are able to directly order the quantity that you require. Certain medications designated "S3" by pharmacists are available over the counter at a physical pharmacy, but must be ordered with a prescription through Online Pharmacy. This is a legal requirement in the State of Victoria to ensure that patients receive adequate advice and counselling about medications.
7What happens if I don't send a prescription for an order that requires one?
If we do not receive a prescription (within a reasonable amount of time) for an order that requires one, any prescription items will removed from the order, and any non prescription items will be supplied promptly.
8What happens if no-one is at home at delivery time?
In this case, Australia Post will leave a reminder at your nearest post office, informing you that they have your order which you may pick up at your convenience.
9If I need an item that is not found on the "search" function, what do I do?
We are continually increasing the number of products available to you, but we would appreciate you informing us of medications that you would like made available so that we are able to add the most important items to our listings. Please call us directly on 1800 200 736 or email
10Can eMedical deliver to countries other than Australia?
Yes, eMedical can send non-prescription items to addresses outside Australia. Shipping is charged "at cost" - the amount varies between countries. For more information, please see the "Deliveries and Payment" page. We do not send prescription medications to addresses outside Australia unless you have made prior arrangements with eMedical Pharmacy Online to send a prescription signed by a practising doctor, currently registered in Australia. If you reside in a country outside Australia and add prescription medications to your order, we will:
  • cancel your order if there are no non-prescription items, or
  • send any non-prescription items you have requested and remove the prescription medication from your order.
11Is eMedical Pharmacy Online able to manage my repeat scripts?
eMedical Pharmacy Online is able to manage your repeats so that further medication is automatically sent to you at regular intervals, usually monthly. You may opt for the repeats to be kept for you and further supplies forwarded only at your request.
12Do I have to enter my credit card details each time I order?
If you are purchasing using a credit card, we require your credit card details for your first purchase. You can choose for eMedical Pharmacy Online to retain these details for future pharmacy purchases. If you choose this option, you must confirm the details with each purchase.
