Maintaining your vaginal pH balance is an important part of looking after yourself. An imbalance can lead to conditions such as Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) with symptoms of odour, discharge and discomfort.
Aci-Jel Balance is a water-dispersible vaginal jelly that is buffered at a pH of 4 and helps restore and maintain normal vaginal acidity. Restoring the correct acidity levels in the vagina helps maintain a healthy environment where harmful bacteria find it difficult to establish themselves.
It also supports the natural vaginal flora, so regular use can help prevent reoccurrence of symptoms.

The pH of a healthy vagina is acidic and ranges between 3.8 and 4.5.
The acidic environment of the vagina helps keep it healthy and clean, although sometimes certain influences may cause a pH imbalance. Common factors which may affect the vaginal pH include:
- Intercourse: Semen has a slightly alkaline pH of 7.1 to 8, if you experience a pH imbalance following intercourse it may be attributed to the slight alkalinity of semen.
- Menstruation: Blood also being slightly alkaline has a pH range of 7.34 to 7.45.
Hormonal fluctuations: Such as those experienced when breastfeeding or during menopause onset.
Aci-Jel Balance is suitable for use during and after menopause when restoration and maintenance of vaginal acidity is required. However, if you are suffering from vaginal dryness, we would recommend our Aci-Jel Restore product. Aci-Jel Restore provides soothing relief from dryness, itching, irritation and discomfort.

Aci-Jel Balance contains per 5g: glacial acetic acid 47mg, hydroxyquinoline sulphate 1.25mg and ricinoleic acid 37.5mg as active ingredients. Also contains propyl hydroxybenzoate 2.5mg as preservative.
